I took some photos of a millipede or centipede today and when I loaded them onto my computer using Link I noticed I had two versions of each photo one labelled as an HDR photo and one not labelled that way. The "ordinary" photos actually look better. I see the duplicates on the phone as well, Strange that I would get duplicates and that the HDR photos don't look as good. Anyone experience this? Any thoughts? First photo is normal and second is HDR.

There's a setting to save both. Swipe down in the camera app to get to the settings.

HDR should only be used for certain situation when there is a big contrast of light between two area. It is not good for a well lite object... cause HDR will remove too much contrast from a picture.

    I agree.
I've been able to take pretty decent shots in backlight conditions. Where the regular settings gave me only silhouettes, the HDR gave me details in the foreground as well. You have to remain really steady thou - the processing is still going on shortly after the picture is taken (at least, it feels that way to me)
