I wish it were an april fool's joke, however I dropped my phone when I got out of the car.
The phone is unusable. I can't even answer a call. Screen is completely unresponsive

nope no insurance. In fact, I bought it out right from telus so I didn't even get a discount

Thats exactly why i got a casemate tough case

slim but protective. im real picky about bulk

I've had one bad drop since i've had the phone. Luckily, the case did its job and took the damage and not the phone itself.
$30-40 to protect $700+....no brainer.

I've dropped it off the table.. my son has even dropped it when he carried it over one day. never any issues.

When I dropped it, I Was sitting down in my car. I opened the car and put my foot on the ground. Thats when it dropped. I couldn't believe such a small drop would do so much damage. I guess it must have landed on the wrong spot..

Look like they're about $200 for the screen.
They're expensive because its all 1 piece of glass. The digitizer is built into the glass. Normally they're 2 separate pieces.

I stopped using cases on my phone. I was sorta OCD with my phones and scratches and etc. But, with my 9900 I one day said F-it. I do feel sorry for your situation though, I would be livid if I dropped a Z10, shieeet I would be mad if my 9900 broke down like that. Good thing you had the means to get it replaced!

Sorry for your loss. Z10 lcd assembly doesn't provide as much protection as other competitors. Any type of phone protector like sleeve, flip case, transform case would've helped the phone survive a normal human height drop. I strongly recommend op to have protection next time. It saves life

Have my Z in an otterbox dropped it once getting out of my car no issues , otterbox is a bit on the bulky side but worth it as far as protection

If you bought it using a credit card, you may have purchase insurance and double mfg warranty from the credit card company.
