Wow thats the weirdest question ive ever seen, yea it does but.you csnt turn it off you need to slide the brightness to allow the light sensor to detect its maximum brightness when dimming and when lighting it back up.

The sensor is up near the led, I believe. It detects ambient light - if it is bright outside, it will turn the screen brightness up so you can read it better (not always perfect) in sunlight. If the light is dimmer, the screen brightness does not need to be very bright so it will dim the screen.
