So I wake up today to find my Z10 completely dead. It was working perfectly well right before I slept, plugged into the charger.

Nothing is responsive at all and no red/green light whatsoever. The only thing that I've noticed is that while the charger is plugged in, plug in thr battery and the red notification light comes on for not even half a second and turns off...

Any insights? I called Blackberry support and they referred me to my carrier. Now, I bought this phone full price and the carrier it is originally with isn't the one I'm with. (Phone with Rogers, I'm with TELUS).

Mind you, I've tried using a different battery/charger to no avail.

Thanks in advance for any input you guys might have!

leave it plugged in for a couple hours. It might come back to life

This problem was also on the PB and sometimes they could be revived also. it happens when the batter drains completely.

    Cable was pushed in properly.
    Multiple cables/chargers tried..
Had whatsapp and instagram sideloaded since day 1 and had no problems whatsoever!
Autoloader does not work as the phone does not turn on/detect USB.

Battery pull was done at least 12 times. Changed batteries as well to try and see what would happen; nothing.

try pulling the battery and plug it into your computer and see if the Blackberry desktop software recognizes it. (no battery) This was a common problem with BB devices in the past.

Which carrier? I'd ask for a replacement... not a fix, a replace. Even if they say its past 2 week replacement warranty, cry foul and demand a new unit. I just went through the exact same thing, they wanted to fix the dead zed, and they said if it was unfixable they would send a refurbished one on limited warranty. When i called carrier to complain, they said they don't even have an refurbished units, so they would send a new one. They also gave me a free month service and an extra gig data for good.

I'd get on the phone with the carrier asap and be firm...

If you have access to a multimeter or avometer to check the battery voltage try that. If fully charged you should have nearly 4.2 V dc on the battery. If less than 3.2 V dc the battery is the issue or the charger is not working correctly to charge it up from this level.

Whoosh.....!!!!!!!!!! Careful! Z10 in action here!

Maybe a power surge while charging when you were sleeping killed it? Is the charger connected to a surge protector?

Sounds like the same thing that happened to my T-mobile z10. I am extremely discouraged. How can a device years in the making have these issues.

Sadly the perils of modern day mass production. All products will have bad or dud ones come off the production line. It's the world we live in now.

My Carrier is not the same one as the phone's. Bought it outright.. so going to the carrier is not an option unfortunately..

Funny you mention a surge.. It IS actually connected to a surge protected powerbar!

I did not check if the phone connects via USB without the battery in. Will try now!
