Data connection drops on Z10
I am running into a situation where my Z10 will have full bars of cellular coverage (HSPA+ where I'm at, no LTE unfortunately), and cab be connected to a WIFI network, but when I try anything that requires data (internet, weather, email, etc,) it will not work. I get a network connection error. I also noticed that I am missing the BlackBerry logo in the status bar that indicates I am connected to a data network. This has happened to me four times in the last two days. The data will be working fine one minute, and the next minute, it's gone. A reboot will fix it, or if I wait long enough (over an hour, it seems) it comes back.
Any idea how I can fix this permanently? - 02-07-2013, 01:15 PM #2

I seem to be having this problem too.
I'm on Orange/EE with a SIM free Z10 from Phones4U. My connection will switch between H+, 3G, G and no connection within a few minutes.
I'll monitor for a while and maybe try a reset if it doesn't improve... - 02-07-2013, 01:40 PM #5
and this is what's killing the battery... I have the exact same problem, I then decided to switch the data off on the cell phone then connect to the wifi only.... kept lossing wifi connection and cell signal was fuzzy to... before activating the wifi, cell signal was full bar... did the same test with an Iphone and it is not affecting the signal like that.
battery on the z10 drained in about &hrs in standby having wifi on (no activity on the cell except being connected to the wifi and the cell signal) some times' the screen was going on by itself.. very weird behaviour i must say ! - 02-07-2013, 02:16 PM

I'm on Rogers. I forgot to mention that I can still make phone calls - just the data portion doesn't work. When I go to the network settings, it says I'm on "4g" rather than "4G". But the weird thing is, I'm also connected to wifi and should have data access that way.

No, the phone is not unlocked. I did not set it up on wifi before activating it. I just went to the Rogers store, got the phone and new SIM card, popped in the battery and fired it up. It works fine most of the time, but it's really annoying when the data stops working.

Uh oh, seems like a big bug found. And like said if these things are doing that, well that kills battery as the chips keep looking for data. Hope this is fixed.

Here's my experience with this issue. I have a Rogers Z10 using it unlocked on AT&T. When I received the phone on the 6th I popped my sim in booted it up and got the phone is locked message so I continued to set it up using wifi until I received the unlock code. I got the code about 1 1/2 later and unlocked the phone. Everything was going well with 4G LTE, after about 4 hours I noticed my signal would drop between edge and LTE then finally stayed on edge and wouldn't go back. After playing around with the phone I finally performed a full data wipe and set the phone back up fully activated on AT&T and haven't had an issue yet with data drops. Hope this helps.

Re: Data connection drops on Z10
Day 3, 3 sim cards, 2 phones later and I'm still having the same problem. Rogers phone on Rogers in Winnipeg, there's no lte here yet and only "4G".
No matter where I am in the city (inside or out) my signal bars fluctuate severely. Where signal is strong the phone constantly goes from 5 to 1 or 0 bars and doesn't lose the data connection. Places where signal isn't great it goes from 3 or 4 bars to 0.
I've been on the phone and live chat with Rogers and they claim their network is fine. My 9900 and my wife's iPhone 5 are fine in the same areas. I really want to like this phone, but this problem is really annoying.

I thought it was fixed yesterday. I called Rogers and they did something on their end and it was fine for almost an entire day. But then it did again. I called Rogers again and they tried something else, and if the problem persists they suggested I try a new SIM card. We'll see,

Today has been the worst so far with no service anyone else experiencing this I'm with Telus and never had issue with any other blackberry I've owned and I've owned a lot of them.
This is really starting to suck

I don't have any of these problems but I want to point out when I first got the Z10 I had a EE sim for it. Once I got my Vodafone contract micro sim I did a wipe and put my Vodafone sim in it. I was then promoted to install a Vodafone specific update and the 4G options disappeared from the networks menu. I would suggest a wipe before a sim change

I preordered the phone from Telus - recived it with a new micro sim and was also prompted by the carrier specific upgrade as you mention.
In the last 4 hours 90% of it has been without serivce keeps switching to ATT which is in the US, Rogers Wireless - or Emergency Calls only and I have the phone locked to Telus on manual mode - 02-13-2013, 07:13 AM #19
I have an unlocked Z10 using it in the US on AT&T and have the same problem. The device would go from full 4G service to none. I can be sitting still and have 4G then moments later still at the same spot have no services at all. I've also noticed that on occasion email and tex messages will just hang for 10-15 seconds before sending. My initial thoughts were that this was simply because I'm using a device that AT&T doesn't support at this time. I've also considered that it could be an issue resulting from using the nano sim from my iPhone 5 and Apple data plan. Other than this and a few issues with the Hub notifications I'm pretty happy to have the Z10.

On T-mobile UK, unlocked device from Carphone Warehouse. Thought it may be my area.. This is concerning!!! Swapped my phone yesterday for a different and it is still acting quite weird. Maybe it can't connect to the weak cell signals? Not too sure but does anybody know if this could be solved by an OS update? Seems pointless to have unlimited data for no reason (-_-)

I've wiped the phone 4 times already, It's gotten a lot better - only does it once a day now instead of 4-5 times a day. The signal strength still bounces from full to zero though. Rogers is sending me a new phone - hopefully it's a defective device and that's it.
