converted 3 iphone users today, and kept another few intrested :-)

Hi,

Just came back from a family birthday party here in Belgium. A lot of my family are iphone users, most believe(d) there's nothing else out there that can beat an iphone.
As soon as they saw my Z10, they gathered around, yes really, just as you picture it, they all came standing around me wanting to catch a glimpse and try it out.

In the past, when they noticed my storm, then the 9800, the 9810 or the playbook, I mostly got comments like 'is Blackberry going to keep existing you think?'... none of these comments where made today...
Got a lot of wow's, some sounds of disbelief and one comment like "it's good they made it look like an iphone user interface", which I was going to reply to but then he continued "it will make it easy for me to switch...", so I just let it slide :-)

They where mostly impressed by the hub, the easy way to share just about anything (including simple stuff like attachements in mail), Remember, the stuff you can do when taking pictures and editing them 'out of the box', and of course the whole gesture thing... They found it generally innovative and didn't seem to have much problem with any 'learning curve' as they where playing with it rather fast... also the device itself they found very nice and found it sitting rather perfect in their hands... the size being just right, including the somewhat larger screen (larger than the iphone that is).

About 6 of them (+ 1 android user) asked me to send them the details of where I bought them (unlocked-mobiles.com), and 3 where ready to buy it on the spot and said they are 'convinced', if there was any hesitation it was swapped away when I said skype and instagram are also coming... one said he might not need instagram as the photoediting or adding effects out of the box might be enough for him... he uses instragram to share on facebook mostly so...
Also 'balance' was very interesting for one of them, his company has BES (and exchange with active sync, but he preferred iphone up 'till now) and is doing (of will be doing) tests with BES 10, and he is tired of having 2 iphones...

From this experience, I take some pointers:
- iphone users are ready to 'move on' to newer and better things
- iphone users are mostly not willing to move to android, even if they grew tired of IOS
- apps might be the only thing holding back some willing to convert to BB

A lot of theme are 'tired' of the iphone UX and it's usability shortcomings (including the keyboard), and found that the Iphone 5 was not really worth the upgrade from the 4S, in fact one person stated he would get an iphone from his employer and most agreed he should ask for a 4S (??? didn't hear that one before)...

But right on! I too have converted 1 person from iphone. i think the conversion will be easier when the big name apps launch

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, when I show my friends the Z10, many say it reminds them of the iPhone which is a fair comparison. At first glance it is more similar than an Android phone... Of course, once you use the phone, it's no where near similar to iOS, it's obviously different...

I converted one fellow iPhone friend, and an Android friend seems convinced but is waiting for his contract to expire so I can't count him!

haha...yep! it's such an amazing device, it's a joy to use, talk about and demo to anyone interested... I'm always more than happy to demo it to anyone who ask. Proud Z10 and BBRY user!

Yeah its pretty cool when my buddies with iPhones or Androids are impressed with it. Had family over for a birthday on friday. Took a bunch of pics and some 1080p video. Decided to stream it for people over DLNA. All were in awe. After my wife left her 4S a few of her friends are looking into to Z10. Also have my friend and his wife switching over sometime this week from their iPhone 4.

I totally agree with your pointers, especially the 2nd one. Im ready to convert too (iPhone user since 2008), im bored with the iPhone. Still waiting for it to be available on AT&T.

I get this too!! Haha! It's great. I'm always willing to show people my Z10. I've gotten a few random strangers from my university come up to me while I'm on campus and they see me with it.

Anyways, OP, really glad you're converting them hehe. I also got a few friends to seriously consider the Z10 as their next phone.

First thing i do is hand them my phone and the first thing they'll ask is where is the back key or the home key. Then that's where i come in and show them that there isn't. Then i proceed with the whole peek and flow process. Also i show them the new os itself in terms of navigating. Then i show the bbm. How it has changed significantly. Then the keyboard. At this point they are almost sold. Also show them angry birds. They would feel like hey bb can now have angry birds?? Wow! Wrap it up with the time shift camera and you have a new convert hehe.

I'm desperate waiting for my Z10 to arrive this week. There is a lot of my friends that were berry users and jumped to iOS or Android. I want to see their faces when i show them my Z10!!!! Probably a lot of them will jump back!

I convinced a friend of mine to switch over from an iPhone to the Z10. After a few days he returned the device by saying "Some great innovations but the material of the device just felt cheap, no aluminum back cover!"

Wtf? I just realized how stupid this statement was and at the same time this is just what the Apple lemmings are like!
