    Hey guys,

I had a conversation with a guy at Wind about frequency bands.

The 91LW will find and 'work' on Wind's 1920 band, which is their roaming band.

This is *not* their home network, and your unlimited plans might not apply. Confirm before you go on a spree!

I'm off to return my Z10 :-( I will hold out for the 121, to be safe.

Mine shows Wind Home, so I don't know what he's talking about. Their deal is if it shows up as Wind Home, your regular plan applies. If it changes from that, then I'll worry...

It generally has been 2G, Wind Away. My cycle ends tomorrow so I'll know soon what their "Final" calculations say.

Wind people probably don't know what they are talking about as they are just reading what is in front of them. I find that for many customer service reps and techs. Only real network people know.

Wind carries phones that don't use 1700 MHz (AWS Band IV) and use 2100 MHz ie. Nexus 4 and Galaxy Note II.

Check out the explaination regarding AWS on Wiki: "Since for downlink AWS uses a subset of UMTS frequency band I (2100 MHz) some UMTS2100 capable handsets do detect AWS networks but cannot register on them due to the difference in uplink frequencies (17101755 MHz for AWS vs. 19201980 MHz for UMTS2100)"

rogers is so expensive, koodo is 550, rogers 600 or something

i see what youa re saying that the phone STL100-3 RFF91LW has UMTS2100 capability, thus can detect wind signals, but we have seen proof that the STL100-3 RFF91LW can also upload.

I do not think it is on roaming. I got a z10 from rogers and turn off the roaming data so if this is roaming then my data for the Z10 wont work but it is woriking very good infact in the office where i work the 9900 that I used to have that i got from wind the signal was on and off while this Z10 the signal is very stable and does not fluctuate. As to why i also dont know myself. As long as it is working then thats the bottom line.

You are right... but I am done asking why and trying to prove theoretically why it works on Wind. There is enough evidence to say that HSDPA AWS band isn't needed because the UMTS 2100 signal takes care of it. The main thing is, it works, so I am just going to enjoy it.

Hope you get your hands on one and let the fun begin

    Success!

I'm writing this from my new blackberry Z10 on Wind :-)

The unlock went through no problem, Wind guy let me test it out with his SIM, 3g, no tears. I'll post some screens when I get home.

If it wasn't for the community, I wouldn't have been willing to try this. Y'all are awesome.

Which carrier did you buy the z10 from, and whats the model number?

pretty sure all carriers works (stl-100-3 version 91), problem is price. rogers sells unlocked for 700+tax and koodo sells for 550, so we obviously want koodo ones. but unfortunately koodo and Telus z10s have problem with unlocking at the moment

Virgin Mobile. I have the 91, not the 121.

No activation fee, no cancellation fee. I have yet to see if they charge me for the first month.

I don't know why it works, I only know THAT it works. :-)

To all those on Mobilicity: I have a factory unlocked Z10 - model STL100-3 RFK121LW. The Z10 was not purchased from Mobilicity. I put a new SIM in it that I bought from the Mobilicity store ($20) and had them register it. Took the SIM home, put it in the Z10 and everything works fine. No issues with data and the phone is fully functional on Mobilicity's home network. I hope that helps anyone contemplating trying this!
