I notice one said update by phone....

Sometimes when an update is done via the phone Internet...and occasionally even over wifi.....there will be a small break in signal and that stops a tiny bit of the update coming in. seem this many times. It causes all sorts of mad things to happen, for the phone to be virtually unusable.

Cure is to connect to Link and update again through the PC. And always at the very least do it over wifi when your home wifi signal is jot likely to break up.

Yeah give it a bit of time. It needs to sync everything. It will be laggy for an hour or two. Give it a second reset and check for updates on all your apps in BlackBerry World. Hope that helps. Enjoy 10.1.

I have updated my BlackBerry z10 to the latest update (application update) then did a battery pull and still, my messages won't open... I can see them but I can't reply, or read them... Also, I can't compose a text message... Any time I try to do any of them, the screen dims for a second, as if it was going to open, and then just goes back to normal... Has anyone found a solution yet?

Doesn't the "factory reset" just load the original version of the OS ?

Same problem... Updated over wifi this morning and cannot open existing texts nor compose new ones. I've wiped it, reloaded, rebooted to no avail. I cannot get it to work. This really sucks!

I have an unlocked, unbranded STL100-3. Perhaps that has something to do with it and why most are not seeing this issue?

Thank God I did a backup before the update. I ended up doing a factory reset. This deleted everything on my phone, but it did not remove the newly downloaded OS update. After the reset, I got a notification to update Blackberry 10 Applications. After I did that, I restored the phone from my last backup. All my pictures, files, apps, text messages, and accounts setups were added. All I have to do was sign into my accounts (email, FB, Twitter...) and update the apps.

An update shouldn't take all of this drama and time. But my Z10 seems to a lot faster now.

You didn't get the entire update -- one or more of the files failed to transfer.

This has happened to me when hand-updating before. The fix is to update it again using the same update files. If you do the reload using LINK it will sort itself out.

If you grab the update by hand (e.g. using Sachup/Sachibar) you can non-destructively address this if it happens without losing anything. The alternative is to use LINK to perform the reload again.

ALWAYS make a backup using Link before accepting an OTA update -- this way if for some reason part of it doesn't transfer you're not screwed. With that said since I learned how to do the updates myself by hand I've never had to use the backup -- but I still make one.

Does a update using LINK, wipe the phone ?
I know using OTA (if the carrier allows an update of that size), does not.

Also, I could use Sachup/Sachibar. Where would I get the file for the A&T& 10.1 push ?

    Thanks,
    Fred
