It would appear from what I have read the unlock codes that are provided are maybe a little too long and some suggested only using the first 8 characters.. but would suggest you research and get yourself the confidence before you do.

You don't take 8 digits of a 16 digit unlock. It's that some device have only 8 digits unlock code, most of Bell device got only 8 digits.

From what I gather, the "rogue" SIM has to be inserted first - and then you proceed with unlocking. Previously you could do it with your normal carriers SIM in the phone.

Maybe 100% possible, but not 100% for sure. I purchased an unlock code from BlackberryCodeSource to unlock my Telus phone and tried 4 times, twice using the sim security, 8 digits and 16 digits, and twice putting in a foreign sim, no luck, now down to 6 tries left. Yes I confirmed my IMEI # is correct, I've emailed them to see what they can do. I used paypal so I know I can get my money back.

First code didn't work, but they provided a 2nd code which worked!

I gave them a try......yesterday morning - ordered and paid. 28 hours have gone by and nothing. I have emailed them twice asking them to at least let me know if there is a problem. Nothing back yet!

Just got my code from BlackBerryCodeSource and the 8 digit version worked first time! My IMEI had come up as unknown initially - hence the delay. Anyway....always worth it. Thanks guys!
