Greetings,
We are thinking about getting a z10 for testing purposes after we upgrade to BES10. we don't want to pay monthly fees for any plans. I could not find this in any specs or reviews. Does anyone know if z10 can be activated and completely function in WiFi environment and BES?

What do you want to test? Depending on that answer, you may want to get acquire a wifi only Playbook. That is how I tested BES10 before the phones were released.

I wanted to test connection to BES, Exchange, Policy push, updates, Apps. So we want to test almost everything without a phone and data plan.we can try playbook, but since users are buying z10, we prefer to test the same device.

No. To use BES10, you will need the phone provisioned for BES services on a carrier. There may be highly limited stuff you could do through WiFi but, you will hit a wall very fast until you have BES services on a carrier connection.

Some additional info. If this is an unlocked phone, you should be able to get a pre-paid SIM with BES service for under $100 (maybe) for a month. That is not a huge investment.

You do have some control over the BB10 device with ActiveSync. That should probably work fine with any data service. That is highly limited compared to BES10 but, it may be enough.

The really great part of BES10 is--in my opinion--Balance. I'm not sure if you can test Balance on WiFi only.
