This summer with my job in US I received a Z10-STL100-3 and 4g was working perfectly but I am now back in EU (UK, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany) and the STL100-3 doesn't have any compatible bands for 4g so I am wondering if I could just change the radio file to convert it into a STL100-2?

It's a hardware problem, if you change the files you will make your phone lose signal altogether.

The radio files need the corresponding baseband hardware in order to work properly.

Yes, you are wrong. The 3 models have different hardware.
