Long story short, there's no way to do it natively.
There are some apps that supposedly do it.
All paid.

That article is from 4 years ago and it talks about a law that might get passed. I wouldn't cite that as the reason why BlackBerry saddles us with that stupid sound. Many manufacturers give the option to turn it off. I don't think it has anything to do with legality. There's a much better quote from some higher up at BlackBerry saying something along the lines of he couldn't imagine why someone would want it off. Bottom line, this issue has been beaten to death. I'm not one to do this, but seriously a simple search would have given you your answer.

This has been a highly contentious debate that has been waging in the forums for some time now. Threads have been shut down on this topic more often than any other on here, I believe. They just get so heated and filled with slings and arrows and nastiness, that mods shut them down.
It's best to just leave it at...can't be turned off (yet) but at least since 10.1 it's quieter.

If you posted this thread as a display of ill-placed wit: bad form! Repeated threads make for a messy forum.

Have you tried searching Appworld? There are apps to silence it available. Type "shutter" in and hit search.
