My camera was working fine July 16th around 4pm, but by midnight that day, it stopped focusing. It's happened before but I don't remember what I did to fix it. I tried restarting my phone a few times, as well as a hard reset. I'm running OS 10.2.1.3247 which was straight from my provider.

Is there anything else that I can try before wiping my phone?

Make sure you're using the back camera because the front one doesn't have focus

so I factory reset my phone and it's still not focusing. I'm guessing it's a hardware issue. It doesn't seem like my camera is cracked though.
When I open the camera app, the image is very grainy. Is there a way to replace my camera? I highly doubt Rogers would be any help.

I believe people have discussed replacing the camera. I don't recall if it is complex or hard or it other components in that area are "attached" to it.

    Are you beyond warranty?

Just noticed I'm having the same issue lately. More visible with close up pictures that aren't focusing. All showing up blurred. What a pain

Make sure your lens is clean. The film that builds up there will act like the gell we used to smear on lenses to get a soft focus effect.

My close up focus stopped working about two months ago. The distance focus is fine. It's quite annoying. I've had my z10 since launch.

It is sad how dusty/linty our pockets are. Occasionally I look at the lens area and it is as you describe it.

I had this problem with an iPhone of mine years ago. I looked on the Internet for a fix (because they can't lie on the Internet) and found something that sounded crazy but it actually worked. It said to hold the phone flat above a table or similar surface about 2 inches and let it drop. I hesitantly did it and then tried my camera again. Amazingly it was once again focusing. Not sure if something was stuck or what but it worked. Am I advising trying this on your Z10.......? You decide. My reasoning for trying it was that nothing else worked and a 2" drop was less than previous falls the phone had taken. Purely your decision. Hope whatever you do to fix it works. Good luck.

    Will do.

I'm thinking that the auto focus motor is toast.

I just installed the new camera.

It's focusing again. So the issue was a defective camera module.

solution for me was replacing with a new camera.

it's actually quite easy to replace the camera yourself.

    follow this:

all you need is a t4 torx and a flathead screwdriver.
