Why doesn't RIM sell unlocked phones directly from their website? Apple and Google do this.

It would be a great way to jump start US sales.

No idea. However, if they do decide to do it i would pick one up in a heartbeat.

It's not that easy... BB does not have infrastructure for that at the moment. Ay you know, BB is not producing phones, the stock is located at different manufacturing sites. So if they want to sell phones byself, they would need stock (warehouses etc) , IT network, workforce etc etc BB is not Apple, with stores around the world and premium reseller network. I believe it is not a willingness issue - in the current position of BB they need to use the network of other companies to get their devices to final customers.

Since the first line of support for the device is the carrier you bought it from, who would support this CrackBerry sold phone?

Didn't BB sell Playbooks directly with the help of a third party?

Always good to point to a failure (PlayBook) as a model for the devices that BlackBerry is staking their company on.
They did sell the 4G Playbook (anyone buy it?) directly. And people wanted to buy it from retail stores.

I would love to purchase directly from BB. It would be nice to have an unbranded Z10!!

They could sell through Amazon, like everyone else in the world.

You know, I asked the same question around mid-febuary, and people jumped all over me about how that would be the worst idea.
