Hi!
Just got a new white z10... any ideas how to properly start the charging cycles? should I use it until the battery is empty then charge, or should I charge it before using?

Generally, I've always charged fully, then run it down just prior to shutoff. But lithium ion batteries don't suffer from 'memory' issues like older batteries.

Just plug in and go. Lithium Ion batteries aren't like the old ones where you should charge for XXX hours etc.

I think some think it good practice to let the battery run almost dry now and then, but I've never done or found the need to do so.

Congratulations on a fine new phone. Charge before use is always a fine idea. These batteries do not like to be discharged so running down is not a good idea. Some good information about preserving the battery here: How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries - Battery University

Yeah, I just plug mine in whenever even if it's just for a few minutes. Some people go OC when charging their batteries, I have better things to think/worry about.
