    Hey guys,

I want my brother's Z10 as my daily driver because I feel that the BlackBerry passport is too heavy. He has the phone for 2.5 years now. I charged the phone around 1 o' clock evening UK time. The time now is 9 oclock and I have 47%. I use only BBM. No fb, browsing, twitter etc etc. I tend to reply to a message. Thats it.

Do you think I need a new battery? Keep in mind that the power saving mode is always on and the brightness is at its lowest

Won't hurt to get a new battery or two as they are really cheap.

But truth is BB10 is power hungry, and while an iPhone 6 can go all day on 1800mAh. My Z10 struggled to make five or six with normal usage. Once I got a tablet and stopped using my phone as much... yeah it will last 12 hours. And I've seen magical post from some that got 24 or 36 hours out of a Z10. If you got eight hours and are down only to 47%... that is pretty good.

I know but I did not do anything other than bbm those 8 hours.. I am not sure whether its the device or the 10.3 updates. I remember than 10.2 was so good in terms of battery life when I had my q10.

Battery life looks good to me for what you have described, but as Dunt said, it won't hurt to get a new battery and keep it charged. You will probably need it at some point if you are going to keep the z10. You could check the health of the battery by downloading BBVE from Blackberry world.

Q10 had a smaller AMOLED... and a larger battery. Was probably a good three - four hours of extra battery life.

Oh well, Im getting two batteries I then. I feel better now. It would have been such a shame if the battery life of my z10 was the actual one.

Just an update to yesterday's post. I have charged my phone the whole night and I got it off the charger at half past eight in the morning. I decided to use the official flip case for the z10 today. I am not sure why but I have seen a big improvement to my battery life (even though im still using my "poor health" battery until the new one arrives). The wifi is on all day and I was using to reply to my bbm messages. Now it 22:35 and I still have 60%. Is it the case or it just happened?

Keep your current for backup purposes.
Seems like it might be a little weak but still healthy. I wouldn't throw it away yet!

Much as I love my Z10, playing 'Battery Chicken' with it certainly keeps me on my toes.

I work 10 hour days and in a work shift I've gone through 2 batteries in power saving mode in that period by listening to Spotify and Web browsing on breaks and lunch. Notification wise I only have 2 emails (vs 4 in all) whatsapp, twitter(not active), and old Facebook app (for contact sync).
Spotify is the only android app I use. I think my usage is above average but I burn through battery. I often find my phone feeling warm in my pocket with nothing open so I'll often restart it to stop whatever cpu and ram heavy processes that are pulling all this power.
Does you guys phone often feel warm while no apps are open?

I've been thinking of switching to a q10, classic or passport for the battery and keyboard.

I used to get 3:45 hours on Z10 with continuous use i.e display on.....battery backup is poor.....switching to classic is a excellent option with decent battery backup and a keyboard.. Go for it

I had a battery on my old Curve that wouldn't hold a good charge anymore, and I ran it completely dead and fully recharged it, and again and again about 4 times. The battery started taking a good charge again, almost like I reprogrammed it. Might be worth a try.

If you have an option, get the battery bundle. You can use the spare battery as a charger and not have to swap it (saves time from the rebooting when you switch).
