BlackBerry Z10 pre BES10
Like everyone else on this site, i'm looking to upgrade by current 9800 blackberry. However, my concern and what I need clarification on, has to do with blackberry 10 and BES. I'm currently on a BES server now but I've been reading that unless there is a blackberry 10 BES installed, the only way to use a bb10 device would be through ActiveSync. How does that limit my device vs. Service I currently get through BES? I'm afraid that if the bb10 device can't operate in same or similar fashion, I my have to for go my upgrade until my company decides to either purchase a BES10 server or is okay with the ActiveSync approach.

Your company will need to upgrade to BES10 to use BES services.
If they don't, email is still handled via ActiveSync, but depending on your IT department's policy, your work email may not be allowed on the device.XoXoXo

BB10 management will be handled by Mobile Fusion before the launch of BES10. BES 10 is an integrated system that combines both old BES and Mobile Fusion...

Ok so it's not necessarily true that a company has to invest in a BES10 server to run the hardware as long as they're running mobile fusion. It's just in there best interest to invest in a BES10 server for consolidation purposes i. e. managing iOS, OS7 and Android devices from a singleview. Is that an accurate assessment?

My company wants to go bb10 right a way but bes10 will not avaible until June so we have to use existing bes5 OR build fusion box and then upgrade it to bes10 or new bes10 server to manage all. I wish bes10 would release with bb10 lanuch..

I'm looking for more of an answer to what can be managed at launch. I know it's not desirable to have to manage both a BES5 server and MDM (Mobile Fusion) server at launch of BB10 from an IT prospective. However, if BB10 devices can be managed over an existing network in that format then I would have the ability to purchase a BB10 device and not have to worry as my company has already invested in Mobile Fusion for iPhone and Android users. That's the clarification I'm looking for, whether or not the company I work for decides to invest in BES10 server to centralize is up to them. As long as the BB10 device I purchase works with whatever methodology chosen, that's all that matters to me.

Ah that's the million dollar question "if your company is already using Fusion". I'm not sure if the company I work for is. Seeing as they're the leading telecommunication company in Canada, I would imagine they are from a consumer standpoint but I would have no clue if they have it in place for internal employee use. I'II have to look into that, thanks for the clarification.

I'm in a similar position. My IT "department" (1 guy who has got bigger issues to deal with at the moment) says that our BlackBerry server will support BB10 but our exchange server is too old. Currently, we have BBs, iPhones, and android phones operating in the office (I believe iPhone and Android via Fusion or active sync). Can the exchange server really be too old if currently works with BBs, iPhones and Android phones?

Ya I'm starting to think they're just using ActiveSync for iPhone and Android devices. I know they don't allow me to have my Playbook on the network, however that could either be because they aren't running Mobile Fusion or they just don't want personal devices on the company network. I'll have to call my IT support department for some info on this. It would be a shame if I have to wait one minute passed BlackBerry 10's release date because the company doesn't want to invest in Mobile Fusion.
