I love my Z10 but I think that Bb10 phones are overpriced.. my GF just bought the q10 and I think it's a good phone but it's too pricey.. q5 is 500!?!?!?!? I don't think it will sell well.. blackberry needs to release phones and updates globally at the same time.. I'm in Toronto and I haven't even have 10.1 its frustrating.. I hope BlackBerry recovers from all the bad news it released last friday... I also hope that they atleast update the bridge so I can use bbm or text on my playbook...

You serious? Which carrier? I thought 10.1 rolled out all at the same time in Canada.

On average, I think BlackBerry 10 devices are priced right. Not sure about the Q5 as I've not seen any in my area.

500 isn't that bad speaking in terms of the norm for new smartphones. Every new premium phone is 500+ that's just how it is on every platform.

    Z10? Why yes it is.

Considering Q5 is a mid level phone 500 is a lot esp if other competition can offer more for the same price... Q10 is 700 which is overpriced.. I just think that the prices are driving people away..

More like 450, but I agree it's pretty overpriced. They shouldve aimed for 300, but then again they don't have money to burn like Apple.

I personally don't think it's overpriced considering what you get out of the box. Compared to iPhone 5.

Not trying to sound condescending but have guys tried to check for updates in your phone settings? Go into settings then software updates then press the check for updates button. If you are with rogers it will be there.

Considering how cheap it is to manufacture cell phones I think that all of them are overpriced especially the iPhone.

As manufacturing processes are improved the cost to the end user should be decreasing , it seems that we are heading in the opposite way.

I don't think that blackberry is over priced the price for the z10 is very reasonable for me compared to the competitors.

BBRY has 2.6 Billion dollars in cash and cash equivalents and we're not even asking BBRY to discount its handsets relative to competitors. Just don't mark the prices up. Every BB10 smartphone released should and could be at least $200 USD cheaper to be fair price/value.

There is lots of talk of BBRY being bought out or broken into pieces and shareholders are increasingly unhappy. All the while, BBRY has billions lying around in disuse. BBRY may go down with billions of dollars because the company doesn't have the confidence to properly promote its product. It's an amusing story of mismanagement.

You're getting a well built device, access to the top app and music/video store, smooth/stable os, great camera. With blackberry all you get is hope ex.. Hope that you get native high quality apps from 3rd party developers, hope that the z10 gets the 10.2 update, hope that blackberry won't abandon the z10/q10 before the year is over. Out of the box, the iPhone > z10...

I thought updates are sensed through the SIM.

The thing is each of the carriers only provide updates to the model supported by the carrier. The STL 100-3 can be updated using a Canadian sim. A 100-2 would need a European sim such as Vodafone. A 100-1 will need an Asian sim such as Etisalat -Dubai.
The Sims can be bypassed to receive the official update using Sachup.

I thought updates are sensed through the SIM.
