Updated to official 10.3 last night. After that the flip shell case doesn't shut the screen off as it did with 10.2. The proximity censor still works for phone calls. I hear this failed for some on the update. Anyone else notice this issue?

If you have a reasonably strong magnet, you can test without a case. First take the magnet and slide it over the case so you can determine the general location of where it is and where the sensor on the phone would be located. Now slide the magnet over the screen and see if the screen turns off/on.

Tried using the magnet off another BlackBerry case. It worked. Must just be a coincidence.
