I really want to use this feature but I am very confused about I need to do in order to get it to work on my phone. Any suggestions?

You need to have BES setup to use Balance so odds are you can't use it.

More specifically, you need a corporate email account integrated using BES 10 which was just released in January 2013, so it's not very likely at all that you'll be able to do it right now.
