    Update on using BlackBerry in Japan (Q10 here). The data only SIMs available at Narita airport from the vending machine WORK.

    When checking with the cellphone counter near by, I was told BlackBerry was not supported, but thought I would take a chance. Got the micro Sim for 7-days. After inserting it, it showed NTT Docomo, but data didn't work. Went into APN settings and changed it to what the print out received at the machine said and it works a charm. Once registered, I should be able to get a voice+data plan instead.
