An article in the newspaper said that San Francisco an New York have met with Samsung, Apple and Microsoft to discuss ways
to remotely lock a phone permanently and render it useless to thieves. The article did NOT mention Blackberry. I was wondering
if any of you know if Blackberry 10 has any security features that might be helpful in this area. If they do, then they need
to get the word out as it would be a selling point. If they don't then perhaps a software update in the near future will address
    the problem.

I am a newbie. Is BB protect already on my z10? If it is then BB should promote the feature to the two cities. Something along the lines of others are working on the problem, BB has the solution NOW!

Does locking the phone with BB protect mean that a thief CANNOT sell the phone on the street as it will not be able to be used by ANYONE?

There was just a post in the forums about someone who couldn't use a phone unless they gave the original proof of purchase to Blackberry, because it was reported stolen.

BlackBerry Protect has been around for a while.

You can use it to lock/wipe/locate your device.

Report it stolen and your carrier and BlackBerry can shut down the PIN, rendering the device useless
