So what do you think the devices will be priced at?

Probably about the same as the iPhone. But, I think they should be a bit more aggressive, and not price themselves right out of the market like they've done in the past. Hopefully, the new team at RIM will see that setting premium pricing for these phones given the available options these days will simply get them ignored.

Never underestimate the power of the "sticker-shock" when looking over the list of phones (and their prices) any given carrier offers.

I think that they need to price them the same as similarly spec'd Samsung Android phones, or maybe even more aggressive than that. iPhone pricing on these new devices would be a bad move by RIM and they would be laughed away by all but us Blackberry fans. People are looking at Android over iPhone for value for the dollar, and RIM will need to provide the same until they can establish BB10 as a valid player in the market, with a solid ecosystem. BB10 looks awesome, but it is new and unproven in the market, and therefore cannot demand premium pricing that Apple gets for the phones. Maybe some day, but not now.

What was the 9900 priced at when it came out? $299? The GSIII was priced at $199 on a 2 year contract.

So they should price it at $199. 300 for a new phone is too much. $299 only if it's a 64GB storage in there. Like iPhone has it. Keep it similarly priced if not less.

i disagree with most of you. BB is know for being a premium product, 299 would more than likely be intro price on contract.

A few years ago BB was known for being a premium product....they're known for INFERIOR products, these days. If they're priced higher than a mid-grade Droid, they won't sell a single unit to anyone who isn't already a BB user.

550 Euro here in Germany with no contract.

I believe I saw it in a carrier shop for 630 Euro.

For the L-Series, given that it's brand new... and presumably available in more than one option..

$199 w/ 3yr for base model, $299 for higher capacity model with 3yr, and between $550-$700 for the models out-right. That's typical pricing I would expect from Rogers/Fido/Bell/Telus.

For the N-Series, I would expect something similar, but if they could get away with it they could make it slightly cheaper alternative.

Also, these would be the "regular" prices... the big sales prices (good price for release): knock $100 off each price with contract.

I'm definitely curious as well, as when I upgrade to a BB10 device, it will be an unlocked device as I use a bring your own phone cell service. I'm expecting an unlocked BB10 device to run in the $500-600 range, which is in line with what some of the newest Android devices are going for unlocked.

    Portugal BlackBerry prices today:
    Blackberry, Tecnologia na Fnac.pt
    These are without contract.
    I think bb10 will cost 600/700€ too

not more than USD 500 with no contract. if RIM fails it, it will ruin the blackberry ressurection market. except, RIM release new BB with 5 inch screen, quad core proccie, 2 GB memory and 64 GB internal storage, then it will worth to buy within USD 650-700 with no contract.

In my opinion, price should be made taking into consideration most of all the hardware itself, both the L and N series look as mid range devices and should be priced accordingly, $100.00 on a 2 year contract sounds very good so later when the high end device hit the market it can be priced at $200 on a 2 year contract as the iphone 5 and galaxy III currently do.

    Default BB 10 device pricing?

Alphabet series (including L and N) of BB smartphones are high-end 4G products. Look at the specs.

So, the minimum price will be above Bold 9900 (3G). But the maximum price will be below Porsche 9981 (3G).

I'm thinking a $499 launch price for the London would be good. I'd still wait for the first price drop, might go for it at $350 (unless work is treating me nicely and I have a lot more money, in which case $500 is just fine).

Pricing will definitely be one of the most deciding factors for BB10's success or failure:

The fact that BB10 devices will be released at least 4 months behind iPhone5, and 3 months behind WP8, the price needs to be competitive with such devices. For example, the L-Series should be priced somewhere between $150 and $200 (on contract) at launch, otherwise, there will be little reason why non-BB consumers would be attracted towards purchasing a new BB10 device. The 16GB iPhone5 is $200 and the new Nokia Lumia 920 is $150. I think setting the L-Series at $150 is a competitive price, and might be enough to lure WP8 consumers over to BB10.

If they are priced like that, no one will buy them and RIM will be done.

It won't matter how high-end the hardware is. As competitive as the mobile phone market is, RIM can't assume people will pay whatever anymore if they want to make a comeback.

Honestly, its a big question. But I think with their business model, its more important for RIM to have more customers (that is price it cheaper than alternatives like iphone5 and GSIII). This is so that they can get money from BES, as well as entice developers with a large number of users. Granted the phone is going to be amazing (imho), but most people would go for the tried and tested iphone5 and GSIII, especially because many BB users are once bitten twice shy...

The best price for the L series and N series is 200$, 300$ and 400$ (16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively, with contract) and 50$ to 100$ unlocked.

For premium phones like the A series, 50$ more in the above prices.

If RIM doesn't do this it'll lose many potential consumers because everyone wants a good smartphone with a nice price.
