My Z10 battery life has been consistently poor, and even removing apps known to drain life (BlackBerry Travel etc), it is still needing charging at mid point through the day. I'm on 002, 10.0.10.690 OS version.

Can anyone who has the new 10.1 update confirm any tangible difference in the battery performance? I have a Mac and haven't yet gotten in front of a Windows PC to do the update, and may wait until it's OTA with my carrier (O2 UK) before updating if there's no not a gain to be had, or if in fact battery life is poorer for the update.

Thanks guys, looking forward for the feedback.

Pretty early now but my impression is battery is similar in the latest leaked update for ATT 100-3.

10.1 for me hasn't changed the battery life.

Try this to improve your battery life.

    Bluetooth off.
    BlackBerry Protect off.
    Location adverts off.
    Traffic data collection off.
    Nfc off.
Any app you don't use delete it.
Also delete all apps you don't have on your device from the 'Available' section of App World.
Use IMAP and sync only folders you need.
Calendar app, only show calenders you need.
Delete Twitter from Hub and use Blaq when you want ti use twitter.
In accounts, calendar, sync every 1 or 2 hours.
Contacts account, sync every 24 hours.

I have found that turning off the following makes the battery last a lot longer 1. Turn off nfc. 2. Turn off gestures when phone is off. 3. Turn off data reporting. Since I've done this my battery life is amazing

Well, why would you keep NFC on all the time if you don't use it at all?

Personally I switched it off and also the GPS and kept on bluetooth, wifi, 3g with data Andy battery last a full working day.

I also know that 4G LTE tends to drain the battery a lot! Do you have this on?

If your battery drain is around 0.2W, then encryption might have gotten hung up.

I would say that 10.1 actually drains a little bit more than 10.0 - at least the leaked 10.1 hybrid.

No, I don't have LTE on, my carrier hasn't rolled it out as of yet either.

I switch WiFi off and on as required, and the same for Bluetooth when I'm in my car. It is synced to two email accounts, one calendar, and I don't use Facebook or Twitter. LinkedIn is on however.

Unneeded apps are not on the device, I like to keep it clean, but the battery just isn't lasting. My phone has been on 90 minutes and is now at 56% according to battery guru. Even the display is at the lowest possible setting. This and the constant duplication of contacts has been driving me nuts, and I was very much hoping for see improvement in the 10.1 release in both areas. I love the OS, but the power supply supporting it needs addressing.

I'm still not returning it, so one of 'those threads' won't appear from me

Strange. I've got a similar setup (only one email address, but with Facebook) and I've been browsing CB for near four hours solid (screen at 50% brightness) from 85%, and I'm only down to 30%.

I don't know if it's some kind of 'luck of the draw' or even a hidden carrier setting somewhere that's responsible... just wish I knew what it was. perhaps when I put 10.1 on the device it will overwrite something that's been causing it? No idea, but the frustrating thing is seeing so many others out there saying the exact opposite and how good their battery is - there's a big divide sometimes in what people are saying.

Does seem to point to some kind of production fault. I've got a 100-3, I think.

Just to be safe do a backup. Perform a security wipe, load default software via bblink and restore. A lot of people say it has been working. I just did it yesterday so I don't know if it has any affect

I'm also on a O2 UK Z10. I have great battery I have Nfc off, Bluetooth off, 3g on wifi on and my exchange and outlook . com accounts push mails. I get easily a day out of the device with moderate use including multiple calls, emails, texts browsing and crackberry.

I wonder if you have a dud device?

I'm now on 10.1 and can't see much difference in battery.

If you have Battery Guru on all the time this could be contributing to the problem, others have reported that battery monitoring apps will drain the battery faster.

    I'll prove you wrong.

Turn flight mode on and only Battery Guru.

See attached. Very little power used.

I think I have a dud device (replying to previous comment). I've tried almost everything except backing up and starting again, so you never know, that may do the trick.

Battery Guru's credentials are impeccable, as is the developer - I can't believe for a moment that it can reduce my battery from 100% to nearly 50% in two hours. Four hours between charging is the constant turnaround time, and that's with all other extraneous features turned off!

I have a car charger now, and I'll have to invest in the battery pack though I resent having to do it as I don't feel the device is performing as it should in this regard. I couldn't be happier with the OS, it's only the battery and the contact details that keep duplicating that bug me.
