    Hi,

I'm having extremely short battery life on my Z10. Just noticed that battery health is 22% using Battery Guru. That's definitely abnormal.

What's your z10's battery health like?

I have had my z10 since a week or two after it came out in Canada and my battery health is 95%.

Interesting. I've had my Z10 for a couple of months and BG only reports 15 cycles. Seems like a bad battery indeed.

Wondering how many hours you can squeeze out of it with 95% health? Mine lasts for like 10 hours tops. Assuming health was at 95% I should be getting around 40 hours? That'd be nice.

Was about to order a Q10 solely for battery life but I might be keeping the Z10 if it turns out to be a bad battery indeed.

Luckily I just ordered a charging bundle with an extra battery.

I'm going to guess it is a bad battery...my first one was bad and only got four hours on a charge...this one gets 15 to 18... I recharge before bed as this seems to help battery life and has prevented any further reboots...it's interesting to note that I used to have frequent reboots with the old battery and before the update to 1880...I've had exactly one reboot since and that was on a overnight charge...

You're the first I've ever seen with less than 80% (and I'm the Battery Guru developer). A value of 22% is a sure sign that something is wrong... or perhaps you only just inserted the battery and didn't give the OS time to recalibrate?

Do you have an unusual charging or usage pattern? If you were to do something like always cycling it between 5% and 15% battery level, I could imagine the results could confuse the OS enough to give a ridiculous health value. If you're just using it regularly, charging till it's full and discharging over the course of a day, 22% says to me it's a bad battery.

You should probably do the "drain test" documented in a link under the Diagnostics page of the app. Based on that, you can independently measure health and know for certain whether the battery is bad or not.

If you're asking whether it's safe to leave the phone on the charger long after it's reached 100%, the answer is yes. The device controls the charging process itself, so when the battery is full, it basically shuts off the charger.

Something strange has been going on with my Z10 and it's battery the last few days. Even if left on charge over night it does not charge past 98%.

I bought Battery Guru and it said battery health was 100% last night when the battery was at 98%. Today it says battery health is 88% when the charge level is at 98%.

This seems to have started after installing BBM Channels though that is a best guess not a scientifically obtained observation. I may have forgotten about some other app I've installed recently.

I still love my Z10, this is not a train wreck just a puzzle for the moment.

The system is designed so that doing either of those things is perfectly fine. In theory you may slightly increase how long the battery stays useful to you if you consistently recharge before reaching 0% but this might mean having it last for two years instead if two years and a month. Nobody has enough data with this platform and these devices to say much more than that right now.

Personally I tend to recharge before 5% but that's solely to reduce the risk that I'm caught with no battery left and not to "protect" the battery.
