Battery charging time for the z10?
Guys can you please give me an idea about what's your battery charging time for Z10 is? Mine taking more than 2 hours from drained battery which I guess is not normal?

My Z10 is only 3 days old. This morning I started charging around 07.45 and it took approx 1½ hours. I accidently noticed the display turning on when the charge was completed.
PS: Remember to use the charger with the yellow/orange connector as it is capable of providing more current (2A) than the ones with a black connector (700/750mA) - 02-07-2013, 02:51 AM

I believed in Blackberry Z10 and now a proud owner of it
For all those people who try to talk about how good their phone or OS is, listen, if they were so 'amazing' then I would have left BB long ago and CB would be dead by now. Point is not that I believe I made the best choice among all available phones but I made a choice which serves me best!!! - 02-07-2013, 03:06 AM #4
this phone def seems to take about twice as long as my 9900 does. i haven't really kept track but it seems like 2 hours from dead to full is what it takes. i just got a below 1% warning and plugged it in at 1am, i'll try and pay attention to when it's charged.

The little square brick charger that comes with the Canadian version of the phone is rated for an output of 5VDC @ 750mA. As far as I know, this is the exact same charger that came with the 9900 and pretty much every BB in the past couple of years or so. We can take that out of the equation when comparing charge times.
For comparison, for the Bold 9900 was 3.7V, 1230mAh. The battery for the Z10 is 3.8V, 1800mAh. The Z10 battery holds 1.5 times the energy when compared to the 9900 battery. It will take at least 1.5 times longer to charge the Z10 vs the 9900 based on battery capacity alone. - 02-07-2013, 05:45 AM

Thanks for writing detailed reply, I was worried that it might be the case only on my side

Battery charging time?
Never gotten a charger like that in the UK versions. The one I have charges it in a couple of hours though.

I'm finding mine takes longer to charge then my old 9860, but i noticed my battery indicator always flashes that it is charging. The battery level says 100%. Is this normal or do i have an issue??? Should the battery indicator top left of the screen not tell me when batt is full??
Thanks - 02-07-2013, 08:34 PM #14
I hopped on the forums this morning looking for a thread discussing this issue but didn't find one. Two nights in a row now I have left my Z10 plugged into the wall and both mornings I have found the lightning bolt still flashing but the battery at 100%. After the first morning that this happened, I plugged my phone into my laptop at work during the day and it charged and then stopped charging like you would expect. Really, it's too soon to tell if this is going to be a problem but it is a little odd.
I'm going to run the battery right down before charging it again and see if that changes anything. So far I don't think I've gone below 50%. - 02-08-2013, 06:59 AM #18
I just woke up after charging my z10 overnight again. Still shows the charging symbol... I just did the battery pull as suggested by a friend as well... It fixed my weather app problem.. Hopefully it fixes my charging issue too
I guess when in doubt.. battery pull! - 02-08-2013, 07:06 AM #19
Battery charging time?
Remember the PlayBook had issues when first released with charging and the icon and not always reading the battery at 100%. It was fixed with the first OS update and I would expect the same here, RIM's excuse then was that they didn't get a chance to test the final hardware battery with OS and I would assume BlackBerry will say the same thing here...or your phone is a lemon and you should take it back...

Update: My Z10 has gone back to showing the charging indicator (lightening bolt) even when the battery is at 100%. I left it for over 6 hours and still shows charging. Does this mean its still charging? Should i use the battery indicator under settings ? Is my battery getting fully charged? I have doen multiple restarts, shutdowns and battery pulls. Is it just me or is this wide spread?

Mine routinely takes a good 3+ hours for full charge, using the supplied wall charger.

With the PlayBook charger (rated at 1.8A), it just took mine about 2 hours (give or take 10 minutes) to do a full charge.
With the included charger (rated at only 0.75A) it took 3.1 hours for a full charge.Battery Guru for BB10 tracks voltage, power, battery health. (Also on the PlayBook.) White Noise helps you sleep or concentrate.
