Default Battery 1/2 day after new OS

Hi folks. Was so jealous with everyone ranting and raving about better battery life with the new upgrade. Cause I'm with Bell had to wait it out until yesterday to get it. Not the end of the world I know.

Now my cell got unplugged from the charger at 8 am. Time now is 4:31:19 PM and just plugged my cell in cause I'm at 20%

Moderate usage. Cracker berry website etc. I'm Not on the LTE sign a I'm onl H+. And my screen brightness is set at 50%.

Is this normal? Definitely need a second battery if this is the case.

    Cheers

I usually get a full day of moderate use on my Z10 and come home with still around 20% remaining. I don't usually need that much brightness during the day (I set it close to the lowest possible setting) because I can still see the display very well and only adjust it to around 50% when I turn off the lights at night when using the Z10 before I go to sleep. Make sure just to turn off NFC, bluetooth or anything that you're not using to save on battery. Also what helps is that I adjust emails "Sync Interval" time to least 1 or 2 hours instead of every 15 minutes and I find that it does save the battery this way because it doesn't have to constantly check every 15 minutes. I find that I'm still receiving emails at similar time frames anyways. Also when I'm in a wifi zone at school I always turn off my data and this definitely saves me a lot of battery juice when I surf the Web.

    Not sure if that helps

It's gets better as you use it. Before the update the battery life was brutal. After it got better now after a few reboots (i reboot the phone every night) its really good. I used it from noon to midnight last night with about 50% left.

After the update the battery life def got a lot better but a random restart seems to help and clear out some stuff running in the back ground. Not the best solution but it seems to do the trick

News flash: a battery info App running in the background can easily prevent your phone's processor from dropping into a low power mode. Additionally, IM apps like WhatsApp prevent your networking from entering a standby state. Both of these will have a drastic effect on your battery life (on any device).

Phone off the charger at 8am and it's now 5:30pm. That's 9.5 hours of streaming BT audio to my car stereo, taking 5 10 minute phone calls and 50-60 hub notifications of emails, FB, etc.
    Battery at 65%
Installed the latest Bell update yesterday afternoon. LTE is poor where I am so I have it optioned out.

Thx all for your feed back. I had a few apps running such as beweather and whatsapp. But definitely not 8 apps worth. I will try battery pull. Hopefully that fixes it abit.

I mean one full day without not having to plug it in to charge is not asking for too too much is it blackberry?? Having said that phone still works and runs fluidly. Just this stupid 1/2 day battery isn't a good key selling feauture to non blackberry users in my opinion. They should have nailed this way better.

My z10 gets unplugged at 630am. I'm a moderate to heavy user, it's 7:14pm and I have 55% battery. LTE, wifi, bluetooth always on. I close my apps when I'm not using them and clear my browser junk daily.

In another thread, people are reporting 20+ hours between charges. I'm not seeing that but I can get up to 10 hours actual use with wifi on - in standby I can go 18 hours between charges.
I've downloaded Battery Guru to monitor charge/discharge rates - the results will be forwarded to BlackBerry.

12 - 14 hours, I think it will be enough for common users. Unless you keep yourself outside for more than 14 hour/day.

My screen is always at 100% brightness lol, wifi on and LTE off since its unavailable where i am anyways, I can easily go the entire day with pretty heavy use, if my 5 year old doesn't grab my phone when i get home and starts up Where's my Perry (a game) I will go through the night without a charge and till about noon the next day before i have to switch to my second battery.

Games kill my battery in bout half hour though. My son is brutal.

Sadly I am having the same problem as you since I did the update with Bell yesterday. My battery life was decent up until then. Don't know if Bell added anything to the update. One thing for sure is that I am very disappointed after reading all the posts on the CB forums. I will give it a couple more days and see what is next after that. Bummer!

I went 12 h today. With 25% left. LTE on, screen brightness at 25%, blue tooth connected to jawbone earpiece for about 4hr. On Facebook twitter and cb10. While waiting in the mall. Spotty coverage for about 2hr.
Not bad. I think this is just the new smart phone norm.

Bt streaming is the best way to kill the battery. And you got 2 hours from a 65%charge. My friends android die from full charge with that kind of streaming

10:20pm -- battery is at 55% -- came off the charger at 11am.

An hour and a half of phone calls - two hours of streaming Sirius - 3 emails with push - non-stop BBMing. I'd say I'm quite happy. I also have 3 back up batteries ready to go - but since the update I've never needed them.

I just also notice that those apps and or games running in background consume a lot of power... by closing them all when you just finish using them i.e. without letting them keep running on the background (as in the front page), you can save a lot of power...

Now on to 16 hours of use on the new Bell update, at 24% battery left. Definitely an improvement as I used it hard for lots of calls and messages and surfing today. Used to be down to 20% by 12 hours use.

Compared to other phones I think the Z10 with the update is among the best (talking about big Android and iOS phones, not the old B9900 I used to have, small screen means small usage for surfing etc.).

I found that the Telus network which some of the towers are shared with Bell gets mediocre battery life even after the update. I noticed that my wife's Z10 which is on Rogers was getting way better battery life than mine which is on Telus so since I have a Rogers line as well and my Z10 is unlocked I decided to put my Rogers sim card in this week and what a difference it made! On Telus with LTE & bluetooth on all day, brightness at 100% and with moderate usage my battery would run out in about 11 hours but this week with my Rogers card in the same phone and similar usage I can easily get 18 hours with the exact same settings (LTE, Bluetooth on & brightness at 100%) I unplugged my phone from the charger this morning at 9am and it is now about 8:45pm and I still have 40% left on my battery so I really don't know why there is such a difference between the 2 networks
