I got my Z10 last April when it was launched in our country. I was wondering what is the lifespan of the Z10 as I noticed that newer phones last shorter compared to that of the older models. My first phone the Nokia 7110 lasted me 5 good solid years. My Nokia 6230 lasted 4 years and my Nokia E66 lasted only 3 years. My curve 9360 lasted me less than 2 years and now I think my Z10 is starting to show signs of wear. I shudder at the thought of the trend in my phone usage.

Sometimes my lock screen switches off on its own after a few seconds despite my setting it to 5 minutes. My signal is very erratic that I sometimes lose signal despite having good area coverage. This is clearly a phone issue since I put my sim into another phone and the signal is great. Although my battery life seems to have improved over the months. Overall, I think my Z10 is starting to show its age. As much as I want to replace my Z10 with the Z30, practicality is a big factor for me. My carrier will no longer honor returns as my warranty is limited to two months. And funny thing is, despite getting my Z10 from a carrier, it is unlocked. I tried using a sim card from a competitor network and it works.

I want to continue using BB10 since I like the way it flows. I've tried android and ios and I find it cumbersome especially for multitasking.
    BB10 really suits my needs.

Again, how long do you think the Z10 will last? Any thoughts on this?

Dude u must have had a pretty faulty Z10 to start off with. There's no way it should be breaking down like that within the first 12 months. Although I can relate to you on losing signal when having what the phone says is full bars..

You should be able to get between 2 days and 10 years out of the device.

Well, of course usage life would depend on each owner. I'd just like to find out if other Z10 owners out there still have their unit as good as when they got it on day one. Or maybe I'm just abusing my Z10 too much?

Had mine since Feb, when it came out.
It's in pristine condition, no marks at all (it's in a flip case).
It's working even better now than when I got it, that's because the updates have improved the OS.

    Just cannot fault this device.

Treat your tech gadgets well and they last a long time. The Z10 is no different.

So as a midrange estimate, 5years and1 day?

My first one died in month two, warranty Refurb no issues since.

I don't think anyone could truly answer OPs question. I will say that I've heard more about hardware failures with the Z10 than any other phone I remember. I've had. 72xx, 8310, 9000, 9700, 9780 and never had a failure before now. May just be coincidence that the first Z10 failed. Maybe I was due after years of good luck. Either way, I wouldn't sit around worrying about it.

My advice, use the phone and worry about failure if it happens. Kinda like thinking about death. Every day above ground is a good day.

Over 6 months with my Z10 and it looks like it was bought today. Although it's worth mentioning I use it in normal environments. My device isn't exposed to extreme conditions very often but for me it's been very solid hardware wise.
