    Just bought a used one on eBay. When I turn on the phone the only screen are the welcome screen, insert SIM card and WiFi screen. Is this normal? The owner upgraded to q10. Does it have to have att SIM to access the settings.

    The welcome screen is shown the first time you power up after a data wipe. Just follow the prompts. ie swipe left until you go tru the whole thing.

    You have to at least join a WiFi network or put a SIM with a data plan in from a carrier compatible with the phone to proceed through the Setup screens as the phone needs to talk to BlackBerry's servers over the Internet to complete the setup.

    If this is the same Z10 mentioned in this thread http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=910120 then you will still need an unlock code in order to use it with any provider other than AT&T. Nothing else will allow use on another provider regardless of which band they use...

    Yes it's the same. This is happening without the SIM. I contacted the owner and they said he's not eligible, he said I have to take it to ATT. It's ATT phone, not unlocked. I tried using the WiFi but it keeps saying wrong password.

    It only ask me the mep unlocked code when the SIM is in.

    Tried using att go phone, it's just waiting for data connection. I made my wifi connection open and still it would not connect. I guess att lock this through their sim so that the only route to go is post paid. I can't believe you can't even use the wifi.

    If you are using a att sim it should work now as long as you have activated the sim card for use

    EDIT- you will need to have it set up for a plan that has data as well because data is blocked completely if the plan does not allow for it...
