excuse me, i just wanna to ask about the location of the heat come from my z10

that part i circled is the heat come from, it doesn't from battery because my battery still normal not hot.

this happens when i use wifi and turn on cellular at the same time, but if i turn off cellular and turn on the wifi, the heat is reduced.
this is a common problem or what?
    thanks

My Z10 heats up in the same spot, usually. I'm guessing the radio/processor is under there.

I think its the processor's heat sink.

I may be wrong, but it looks like...

    ...that's where the processor sits.

yeah i think must between 3 of them will cause heat.
do you think its normal? when i turn on wifi and it gets hot?

All phones get hot while being used. I can say I have my fair share of cold sweat with the Z10 on day two when I really thought it was about to go nuclear on me.

But it's day three and it has been working with no major issues. Tell you what. Take the battery out, let it cool down, then put it back in and turn it off. When the device is off and no longer gerenating heat, turn it on and see if it really is WiFi.

    Hope it remains cool though!

Its a software issue... not the hardware or wifi.

Which one would you think that makes the processor heat up; hardware or software/app?

Just make your pc/laptop as an example.
When you load up a huge program, your cpu fan turns on its fast speed.. you can even hear its noise.

Because BlackBerry only has 2 cores, its still not enough to handle hd quality graphics app(s) specially doing multiple tasks. The device doesn't have a separate video card. And that means the app needs to use the processor. Then processor will run at its best to give the good quality and performance.

By this, the processor now asks for more energy from the battery while the battery feeds nfc chip, blue tooth, wifi and baseband radio, screen, sounds, and the other micro parts.

Don't you think your phone wont heat up with that cycle? If you add all those discharges, it is big enough to make a sudden discharge of battery power and heats up the hardware system overtime.

    What now?

Im not saying blackberry doesn't have a good hardware, I'm just trying to explain what i understand on how devices work.

BlackBerry is even better compared to other smartphones. Its the most balanced phone between on its hardware and software.

This is the most resilient phone in my opinion.

I have the same issue before... after an update, yes.... mine doesn't heat and drain battery too much. its working normal now.

    I have this version: Z10STL100-3/10.0.10.672. 10.0.10.85

Your carrier will push for an update,... if not, blackberry has an alternative update (usually big updates and fixes for the os) and will be available for all the z10 soon...

the updates happened on some bbz10 devices inside north America and uk are not that huge thing and those are carrier requested updates.

If you want to update your phone even id your carrier doesn't push it, you can load it manually.

Google it for more info, or look in forums.

    I hope this helps.

It would probably heat up less with general use if the update is more efficient than before. Heat won't go away forever, especially if playing a fancy 3D game or something like that.

yeah i've read that 10.0.10.85 changelog was to fixed the heat for almost 60% from 10.0.10.82 , but unfortunately, my carrier still stuck in 10.0.10.82 too bad. .82 is very buggy in my z10 in heat.

It would probably heat up less with general use if the update is more efficient than before. Heat won't go away forever, especially if playing a fancy 3D game or something like that.
yeah i agree with that, just like iphone, when playing games, the phone will hot. but i just hope that my z10 won't heat when i just only use it for BBM & browsing

I put a case on mine and don't notice the heat anymore

yap, just like what my friends did. the heat is eleminated but i already purchase the original pouch for z10.

Anyone who thinks the Z10 gets "hot" should try a Nexus 4. I haven't even felt my Z10 get warm in comparison.

i haven't see nexus 4 in indonesian yet.

by the way, is there a difference of size between qualcom snapdragon and TiOmap? because some source said that snapdragon was cooler than TiOmap which is bigger in size and more heat?
