I I I I I...well, apparently, im not having this issue. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of correcting it a few times (flick up from the space bar when it wants to change it to u) and it will eventually understand what you want. You could also try deleting learned words in settings > language and input > Assistance > clear learned words

Your keyboard may have learnt to accept u for I in your previous typing, and saved it as an option for you. Try typing I ... I think you will see u on the spacebar. Look for the I that you want in-key, and flick that. I'd do it once or twice, and I think this will correct the saved memory of u for I, and the I should now be in blue and on the space bar for you.

I'm having this problem its not all the time and i cleared the learned words but it still happens, it happens at odd times and I don't notice it until someone replies asking what I meant cause I put u instead of I lol

It won't happen again if you don't continue accepting u for I! Not need to clear the learned words, because you would have erased every other pattern it learnt from you! See my screen shot and the above poster's. It was a previous mistake that is tripping you up here.

I find the learning is not that great, clearing its memory seems like it knows me better than when it starts learning.

For those typing "I" of course its going to type "I", it's when you accidentally type "U" instead of "I" it leaves the letter "U" when that's not even a word.

It might have started putting a U in after you typed "I", because your keyboard settings may be configured for two languages (and U is a valid word in that language).
After a few more corrections it shall unlearn the habit.

I just have to keep paying more attention when I an typing so that it remembers. I also put in the word substitution for u to be I. Hopefully that doesn't out it into some kind of crazy loop.
