Not having 10.3.1 is not a bad thing.

I second that. 10.2.x is more fluid on Z10 IMHO, 10.2.2.1609 is the best OS I found after a lot of testing. Best signal reception and battery life. Very few 10.3.x builds come close, not to mention still existing annoying bugs.

Leave to what? Only 5.4% of Android users have Lollipop after it was released in November.

Just install it yourself. Takes about an hour. Ten minutes if you start fresh.

5.4% of Android devices represents >20 times more users compared to all BB10 users all together. Not bad, actually. And this number is before the release of major flagship devices. BlackBerry is fighting for months to update 5 legacy devices with very similar hardware. Now many different Android devices are out there? Your comment is completely irrelevant.

Been waiting to update all of my BB10s at the same time, but the Z10 was my holdup for weeks/months... unlocked from shopblackberry and just did a check for software updates and 10.3.1 is there!

Somebody did post that the remaining Z10s would be rolled out this week. Took it with a grain of salt since have had the update on the Z30 and Passport forever now, but seems to be true. Glad I checked!

A lot of android devices out there don't run lollipop that well due to the specs of older devices. My 1st Gen nexus 7 sometimes runs at a crawl due to having 1gb of ram.

    BTW update is 1.1GB!

Edit: The Z10 is on whatever the latest 10.2.3 or whatever unlocked shopblackberry OS has been out since purchased in the fall.

If you are standing there with a two year old Android device (comparable to the subject of this thread, which is a Z10), you are LESS likely to see an update now or ever.

Correct. At least 60% of current Android users have to change their devices first. And they will, because upgrade devices are readily available. What Z10 users upgrade to? Android and iOS devices in majority of cases.

Sure about it? It's BlackBerry users only who rely on leaks. Every popular Android device has great support on XDA. My Galaxy S from 2010 is currently running Android 4.3 JellyBean, CyanogenMod stable release. No update from the manufacturer - who cares?

Your point about modded OSes is well taken. But that is a whole other step that most people would be unwilling to take.

But at least an official 10.3.1 is available to all Z10 users.

My general point is that it's not all sunshine and lollipops (pun intended, ha ha) everywhere else.

From 10.2.1 to 10.3.1? Here is a short list:

Instant actions (triage) in the HUB (one touch delete, flag, or file), new camera features like panorama, ability to access quick settings from anywhere with 2 finger swipe, upgraded Android Runtime to version 4.3 with improved notifications, BlackBerry Assistant (Siri like assistant which is actually very good), no limits to apps in folders, advanced interactions (like lift to wake, flip to mute, flip to save power), improved notification profiles (like HUB++), ability to hide pictures from camera roll, battery saving mode, enhanced permission control for Android apps, and more.

I agree on this. Keep in mind though that there is business involved too. No manufacturer wants you to keep your device for >2 years. Many devices capable of running next OS version won't be updated intentionally.

BlackBerry users take advantage of current tough for the company situation. BlackBerry can't afford to lose more customers by not supporting the few BB10 devices available.

5.4 percent us 5.4 percent. If that figure is true, that's pretty bad.

This number is before the release of HTC One M9 and Galaxy S6. Samsung's device is expected to sell in tens of millions in first 3 months only. Also, see above why some devices will never get Lollipop. BB10 10.3.1 offers Android 4.3 Runtime, so better compare it to JellyBean, not KitKat, nor Lollipop.

I'm not sure if Fire OS devices are included in this percentage but they run on a KitKat base.
