Model number. STL100- 1 Is the oldest. If it's 2/3 try to get them to lower the price. 4 is the newest.

I recommend using the eBay criteria. To be considered "New" the box must still be sealed from the manufacturer.

Anything else and it's left to the buyer and seller to determine amount of "Usedness".

Best answer. It's not easy to determine the condition of the item without looking at it. You can agree on a fair price before seeing the item and if it is as good as they say and works then go for it. If not then either bargain or leave.

Check to see if the esn # has been used on the cell system from a carrier? I'm just guessing...

But seriously, on the face of it there isn't any "real" way to get a figure. What you can check though are the following:

Any debris in any cavity (bottom speaker, ear piece, mic, headphone jack etc. And check the screen/body for damage, scratches etc

Always remember you get what you pay for! And if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

There used or be a way to check by looking at the device pin, like I had one that was 21C1A

Now I have one that starts with 24

I think the newer the pin the newer the device.

I got my Z10 9am of the day it was released in the UK. My PIN is 24, I'm not sure, especially with refurbished devices, that this is an accurate way of identifying a devices age.

My PIN also starts with 24, and my Z10 arrived at my door on launch day in Canada. I'm not sure what system they use to assign device PIN's, but I doubt it's straight-forward enough to determine device age from it.

You may check the number of reboots were done on the device, not a direct indication but should give you some idea.
