I'm not surprised that Vodafone hasn't made the update available. When I had the original Storm with them it took them months to provide official updates.

Orange tended to release the ones they chose for 9900 relatively quickly. But they didn't choose to do updates often.

As a convert of just 1 week, why do we have to wait on a Carrier to release the update? That seems such an 1990's approach, I'm very surprised Blackberry choose that method...

Not their choice unfortunately. Carriers insist or they won't stock it. Only Apple has the clout to force the issue otherwise.

since from what I've seen there's an updated radio component to this. And since I believe the phones that have been updated are STL-3 and not the STL-2, they're probably just monitoring the situation atm

I'm wondering if I do a wipe of my STL100-1 and boot with no SIM that it will connect back to the US market and find an update

If I manually check for an update it doesn't say no updates available but shows up with an error and has been for the last 30 minutes, so I assume there is some work being done and the update shouldn't take long.
