I heard that BlackBerry is not approved in Russia, or maybe BBM is not approved, is that true?

Hi! I'm not Russian but French living in Moscow. In my company (80 employees), we are 2 owners of a Z10 as personal phone. Yes, it's true that BBM is blocked in the country...

Well, it's not really blocked but you cannot download it. That mean that if you go abroad for few days and download it through wi-fi, you will get it...

"Russian" doesn't mean Russian Federation. There are plenty of russian speaking people in all of the post soviet countries, and yes, I'm one of them

But, I guess, bbm should work via WiFi anyway right?

Probably putler doesnt like BBM too its very hard to get BlackBerry in Russia, the reason for that I heard was inability for FSB to spy on users, thus BlackBerry is not that widely available

This is unbelievable. The thread "any Belgians here?" got 645 posts. This thread got 16 (sixteen!) posts. For comparison purposes : population of Belgium - 11 million, population of Russian Federation - 146 millions. Hey, Russians, are you too shy to respond to this thread or maybe BlackBerry Z10 never reached Russia? I know the latter is not true, as there are Russian BBM groups. What going on?

Me is russian and yes, pre-installed BBM works I guess, but I cannot update it. Blackberry 10 phones are not officially sold here but some carriers have been selling old BlackBerry phones. I got my Z30 from online store.

BBM works fine here in Russia, stop telling those old tales. FSB (similar to FBI) gave approval for BlackBerry phones, and officially imported phones will use BlackBerry servers, located in Russia. BlackBerries from other countries will work fine here. You can by BlackBerry outside and use it just as ordinary phone.
And yes, Z10 is not selling officially in Russia, because BlackBerry has very low popularity here.
As for Russian language support in BlackBerry 10, I must to say that it is perfect: localization, keyboard.

It will become perfect once translit function is included. It doesn't concern Z10 certainly, but this is one the most disappointing BB10 omissions.
