I have checked and double-checked my SanDisk 16gb Micro, where my picture files are that I use for my wallpaper; I ran Checkdisk on it, defragged it, and I have no trouble at all looking at the picture files files from it on my computer. So why does, in effect, my 9650 Bold reset the wallpaper every time it reboots? (I will note that it didn't start to do this until about yesterday.)
Any ideas, friends? | I had what sounds like a similar issue. I found that when my wallpaper is located on the SD card, the phone boots up and loads a theme before it indexes the SD card. If the card isn't indexed, the phone won't be able to pull the picture to use as the wallpaper.
Here's the fix that worked for me. Copy the picture or graphic that you want to use for the wallpaper to the device memory. Then change the wallpaper to the local copy of the file.
Here's how: Open your Media folder and open the Picture viewer. Scroll down and find the picture you want to use for wallpaper. Highlight it and press and hold the trackpad. Select COPY. Close out of the Media folder to the home screen. Open the FILES app (the icon looks like a file cabinet). Choose FILE FOLDERS, DEVICE, HOME, USER. Find the folder you want to use (I use the PICTURES folder). Hit the menu button and select PASTE. Your file should now be visible in the file list. Select your file and hit SET AS WALLPAPER on the menu.
You will also find that the wallpaper will remain visible even when you connect your phone to the computer if you don't have media card support enabled. Good luck.
