Default Missing Ringtones and Wallpapers. Please help.

Hello,

I did a wipe of my Storm and was surprised to see that ALL of the default ringtones and wallpapers are no longer there. I was under the impression that these would be restored during the device wipe process.

Can someone out there help me? I'd like to know how to restore the ringtones and wallpapers. I would also like to know what way of going about a device wipe will make sure this doesn't happen again.

Please help.

Kind regards,

M

You can try a reinstall of the blackberry OS again and it should restore it to have all the default pictures and ringtones.

If you deleted the ringers and wallpapers and was hoping that a device wipe would return them, you'd be mistaken. I've told people this in other posts. Once they are gone, they are gone... you need to reload the OS (or rather the cod file associated with the files) to put them back on.

Strangely enough, after I put this post up, I happened to reboot the device completely (battery out, then in), and my ringers and wallpapers were back. I was certainly happy to see them, but I am also perplexed as to why it seems that the device requires some unspecified number of restarts to restore these items.

If anyone's interested, the process I went through was:

1. Device wipe (OS 4.7.0.65 came back on by default)
2. Upgraded to 4.7.0.75 (device completely rebooted at the end of the upgrade)
3. Dialed *228 to make sure the device was activated (I'm on Verizon)
4. Rebooted again a day later (this is when wallpapers and ringtones were restored)

I'm fairly new at all of this, so maybe it's my inexperience at play here. But I can't help but feel like there is something amiss.

Thanks to all,

M

they probably weren't in the device cache sometimes the cache is goofy..

either that or the files weren't loaded on the boot up.
