Has BlackBerry hired a 16 year old graphic design apprentice to create the logo used on the upcoming Android handsets? The logo at the top uses the horrific new font they've started using recently, and it's appalling.

Will they ever release a handset without at least one **** up?

Yes, they have hired young graphics designers to do the job.
I think it looks nice but the font does not work with the logo. The old font used the two inside holes of the letter B in 'B'lackBerry as the logos' bullets, if you will. Now that consistency does not flow because the shape of the B has changed.

I prefer this new font over the old one. More elegant I think. Would be nice to see the same one on all BlackBerry phones though.

Have you ever considered that perhaps this new font BlackBerry has taken a shine to is simply the most fiscally responsible choice...? I'm certain somewhere there is a story about what lead the bargain shopper font to its conception... Most likely began after BlackBerry bounced a check to Wistron or something similarly degrading...

Not only is the new one terrible, but the nostalgia of the old logo works well with the brand new Android devices. Until the devices actually launch I would NOT get my panties in a wad... These 'leaked' images most likely are fan-created, not BlackBerry produced... But even IF this logo IS legit it wouldn't be anything new especially since this is not the 1st time BlackBerry's logo has changed... If you've been with BlackBerry from the beginning you would feel 'nostalgic' about this font as this font is fairly similar to that on the 5820 sans the extra height added to the 'B's... The BlackBerry Quark 6210 and the 7200 series also had the same font, but added the icon of envelope sending as opposed to the BlackBerry bullets... It wasn't until the 7100 that the font changed into the one branded across our legacy, BB10 and Priv appeared (except the 7100 had yet to yield the BlackBerry bullets also, I think the BlackBerry bullets 1st appeared shortly after this device line though). And before BlackBerry was branded, their legendary break through with pagers were all RIM branded... Point being this isn't the 1st time this brand (along with thousand of other brands) have tweaked their logos/font...

It's probably the most they can get following a rejected rebrand of the name by JC. This is their interpretation of logo evolution following maybe their considered success with the Priv.

It's not bad. It may be a "****" up for you, but for others it's something that's a plus.

Honestly, I like the classic logo better because the font is smoother, but I'm not going to whine over a small foil print on the phone.

If BlackBerry is not going forward with the italic font, they have to do the same for the DataFlow Logo. I think it could be pretty cool. Perhaps someone could make a mockup?

I don't even think you should have the word "BlackBerry" on the device. It should just be the actual BlackBerry logo and that's it. Simplicity.

I agree, no text-logo. Way classier, way cooler.

But it'll be a shame if we lose the RIM name and the amazing, current BlackBerry text logo. If the new one is real, it'll be a huge shame.
