I just called Verizon to have them unlock the simcard that came with the Verizon Tour an they told me they wouldn't do it unless i purchased an International Data Plan, which I will not do.

i just want to unlock the phone so that I can pop in a different SIM card when i travel. Did i ask them the wrong thing, or would they just not unlock it for me?

Have to meet certain criteria with them. Try again if not we can unlock it for you.

Tell them you are going to switch to AT&T if they don't give you an unlock code. Otherwise, find someone on here. It is extremely cheap and only takes a few minutes.
