1 - Turn on your Blackberry Bold 9790 with an active simcard (any active simcard will do)
2 - Click Options
-> Click Device
-> Click Advanced System Settings
-> Click Sim Card
3 - Type the letters mepd (you wont see anything while typing it)
4 - The Personalization Screen will pop up

Hold the ALT key and type MEP2
5 - Your Bold 9790 will ask for the MEP unlock code
6 - Enter your 8 or 16 digit MEP Unlock code

The phone will say code accepted


That's it! Your Blackberry Bold 9790 will be permanently Unlocked!

I bought a new Bold 9790 from Dubai, and It’s locked to Etisalat. after I’m back to Egypt, I got it unlocked, but I can’t get Blackberry Messenger, Appworld or Blackbery protect to work. the phone is working and I can call and receive calls , but when trying to connect to the said applications it gives me a messages “the data service is not operational”.

what should I do, to get it properly functioning.????

are you sure the data is not blocked in manage connections? do you have the correct data plan that supports blackberry ?

Sounds like you need to make sure to get a Blackberry plan activated on your phone. Just FYI, having unlimited data does not mean you have a Blackberry plan that enables the features you are talking about (BBM, etc.). Give your carrier a call and they should be able to help out.

I have just had the same issue. Purchased a code for a blackberry bold 9790. Hit the redirect button from paypal and it sends me to a screen "I ordered a blackberry bold 9790 code about 15 min ago. the re-direct screen from the paypal screen says "CALCULATING YOUR UNLOCK CODE
Your order has been successfully created and is being processed. Please stand by...page keeps refreshing but nothing else happens. this is the first time using your service. why haven't i received my unlock code yet?
I decided to go with someone else and i received a code automatically. i would like to get my money back
