Tesco Internet on Blackberry

Please bear with me on this.
I have tried searching but I do not think I am using the right terms so get non relevant answers.
My son has a Blackberry Curve 8530? which was on Voda PAYG which was £10 a month for 300 texts and unlimited data. This deal is about to come to an end.
The phone is now unlocked so is able to use any network
I have a nokia on Tesco £10 which gives me 250 mins 3,000 txts and 500mb which is perfect. I am not paying 50% extra for a service he does not use!
Can anyone xplain what settings I have to change to make it work?
I have already downloaded Opera and all I get is check connection settings! No **** Sherlock, if it wont connect I would immediately go and look in the address book!
The WiFi works fine but not the data over internet.
Before anyone says you need a Blackberry data plan to use blackberry please re read! I do not want the blackberry services!

As much as you don't want to hear it, in order to use data services such as the browser on a BlackBerry, you will need an active BlackBerry Data Plan. A generic data plan will not work.
