network inactive?
info:verizon blackberry 8830 WE, i bought a unlock code and it worked, I inserted a sim card and it worked just fine for 3 days. but now I can't receive any pin in bb messenger or receive any emails or make any calls, it dials a different number. the strange thing is that it gets signal gprs.
connected to network everything looks just fine from the outside, but when you go to ADVANCE OPTION/ simcard/ and enter mepd it gives m the folowing info:
SIM Disabled
Network inactive???
Network Subset Disabled
Service Provider Disabled
Corporate Disabled
now I have 3 of these phones, and I know it suppose to be network disabled. but this one says, inactive? why? and how can i fix this? - 04-20-2010, 09:24 PM #2
Where are you trying to use your 8830's and with what carrier? The GSM radio in the 8830 is not compatible with North American GSM frequencies and cannot be made compatible.

something strange happened today, I went to option/mobile network and changed the network mode from gsm to global and I save and rebooted the device. After that I could make calls and I received old msg's from friends, but after a few minute gone again.
after that I entered alt/lglg and in the log it says java exception/ illegal argumentex
is this a OS problem? - 04-21-2010, 10:45 AM #7
Sounds like a OS problem. Sometimes OS's do not play nice with certain SIM cards.

Wel I had the latest OS on it, now I downgraded but still same problem. How do I remove the OS completely and start from nothing?
And can I remove the start screen with the verizon logo? - 04-22-2010, 09:52 AM #10
There are many programs on CB that will wipe handset clean for you. As far as removing the splash screen its pretty much stuck there.

Now that I have successfully unlocked my mobile, so I think, and everything is running fine (with the same currier sim) am I correct that "Network: INACTIVE" equates to "UNLOCKED" and if so, would the currier known that I've done some sneaky thing with the mobile?

9790 Network inactive no connection with Telus
Hi,
am new here so not sure if i am in the right place, I have recently moved from the UK to Canada, and have brought my mobile phones with me:
Bold 9790
Bold 9700
Curve 9360
all three have been unlocked, through a independent outlet. all tested as being unlocked in the uk as all network sim cards worked and my rogers sim card worked as well.
however having moved to canada, my wife is trying to use her Telus Sim card in the phones, but is unable to get a signal, she has a data plan and blackberry services. We have tried all the logical setting's Network selection switching to 2G but nothing works.
looking at the sim setting on the phone, Network shows as inactive and everything else is disabled..
any one have any idea's?
Thanks in advance for your help

The carrier has no way of knowing your phone is unlocked and even if they did it's 100% legal to unlock your Blackberry.
