Good advise but I always boil it down to how much is your time worth. When you factor in the sitting on hold, the discussion, bargaining, pleading with customer support while you try and get them to hand it over to you, in the end a lot of times, you end up happier going to a seller. Though I do know there are those lucky ones that get a good customer support agent that gets them through the process quickly, I just haven't heard many of those stories.
I'd much rather be out enjoying my summer than dealing with that.

Default Is there a difference in US and CA carrier's code

Does all carriers of the same name in US and Canada use the same method of wireless? If I buy or recycle an US used BB will I have problems when used in Canada. By the way. just received msg from ebay discouraging me paying for unlock code I purchased. Think they just changed policy to not sell such. I have a bid now for a BB 8830 by a carrier which is not available in my area of Canada.. so of course I must unlock if I wish to use it.. Practical and good info supplied above... Thanks

hi....You didn't mention the model and to which network it is locked to..There are many ways to unlock your mobile, by hardware, software and remote method. Its not possible unlocking your mobile for free, because free codes or softwares may not work sometimes. so its better to go for a reputed online provider like Superunlockcodes.com will give you the proper codes quickly at reasonable cost.

The United States government has announced that jail breaking and unlocking I phones, rooting of Android phones and ripping DVDs (for educational purposes) is completely legal as long as they are not violating copyright law. Jail breaking and unlocking of I phones has never been illegal, it was just that Apple had strict policies right from the start which prohibited users from installing apps on their device which were not approved by Apple, along with locking the phone so that it can be used on one carrier only.

it never should have been legal to lock phones to a single carriers. people should be allowed to switch carriers and bring the phone that they have purchased with it. if they want to leave before a contract is up, pay a penalty. in fact, it is illegal for a carrier to sell phones that are locked in my country.

Even if I am not the original owner of the phone, I have been able to call carrier to get an unlock code for the particular phone locked to that carrier. You just have to give them a compelling reason for your request.

Yes, most carriers will give you the unlock code for free.
