Hi all!
I just called AT&T to try to get the unlock code for my BB Curve 8310 by telling them I'm traveling overseas, but the rep told me I can't unlock it unless I sign up for the international plan (forgot what it's called) that's $5.99/month.

Has anyone been able to get their phone's unlock code from AT&T?

Thanks!

You do not have to sign up for any package. All you have to tell them is to enable international roaming. Also, tell them that you do not plan on using at&t service there. You want to purchase a prepaid sim from the country in which you will be in becase it is cheaper. They will unlock it. I have done it plenty of times.

I've been reading all the post regarding the unlock code, so, unless you call the carrier/provider, you will not be able to get the unlock code...? Is this because of the IMEI...?

Correct. If you want the unlock code for free, call the carrier. You could also pay an unlocking service, but why pay for it when you can get it for free???

The only issue with that is that I have service with AT&T, and the curve I have is with T-Mobile. I'm assuming I would have to contact T-Mobile, but would they give me the code even though they are not my providers....?

I have just bought a BB8800, second hand. Tis in perfect condition. Unfortunately, it is with Tmobile and I'm with ATT. Can I drop my ATT sim in or do I need a "Crack"? If I need a crack, can I call Tmobile or would the previous owner need to call.

I'm a total newbe here.. Thanks for all help. I hope to have a long life on these forums!!

Chris,

There is no "unlock" software that is available like the Nokia handsets. The unlock code is dependent upon the IMEI. The carrier you have service with will provide the unlock code. Give them a call.

Received the unlock code for my daughter's Pearl from AT&T, ran through the procedure (thanks Bla1ze), and everything appears to have worked as it should. However, does anyone know how, other than by trying to insert a non-AT&T SIM card, one can validate whether the unlocking actually worked?

MikeQuery: go to options > advanced options > sim card
type mepd (you will see nothing when you type this) if
"Network" shows Disabled, it is unlocked

Forget Rogers for the code.

Somebody must have a keygen for these codes and is either hoarding it to make some easy cash. Tell me these guys are legit business men before I hand over $20.

Default AT&T Unlock -easy

I just called AT&T and told them I am travelling to Europe and I need my phones Subsidy Unlock Code. She asked for my IMEI # and then she gave me the unlock code.

I typed it in the phone and that was it. Easy and Free.

Thanks
