When I go to Options > Advanced > Sim and type MPED or MEP2 and press enter, nothing happens. I've unlocked lots of blackberrys and i know the sim card menu should show up or i should be prompted to enter a code but nothing happens.

Is there something I am missing???

...assuming you already have the unlock code, you should be typing MEPD - not MPED. (unless that is a typo?)
