I'm trying to call on the greater crackberry community, more specifically the linux users, and hoping to learn the ways of actually having fun with the two.
Since my switch to Linux, I've certainly missed my poking around with leaked and hybrid os's since I've not found a very nice way to do so. Virtual Box Win7 doesn't recognise my BB within DTM/DSM(Desktop Manager/Desktop Software Manager)
Any help from those skilled in combining the two forces would be great.

P.S. I know of Barry, just not much documentation on it, and only got it to backup and restore sucessfully when I had absolutely no choice since my wife was making the switch to BB and I was giving her my old 9780 while I was upgrading to 9810

I find that WinXP detects my blackberry within Virtualbox. You might want to use that instead. I also use Linux and ping-pong between windows too. Win7 also refuses to work with my blackberry, it actually detects it as a webcam (gives an error when trying to use it), until I uninstalled it, it now never detects it, only the USB drive features. I wouldn't trust windows 7 anymore from that experience. Virtualbox + WinXP take the cake.

Somewhere in windows 7 there should be "windows xp mode", it's a virtual machine. You just need to locate the virtual hard disk file once it's setup. I haven't used it in a long time, might want to run a search through the help system by hitting F1 in the VM. But before you do that, enable read/write access to a folder on Linux so it could be copied from the VM.

Hi advanced users.
I have bought a BOLD 9900 UNLOCKED in a shop of the operator 3 (50 EUR less than same phone into a Vodafone shop).
This phone is working fine with the Vodafone sim but DO NOT have the option "2G"!
He have "3G" and "2G/3G".
I have seen that all others BOLD 9900 of other carriers have the 3 options.
Problem is that I travel a lot and I need to lock the 2G because I can not recharge it when I travel.

So I have tried to upgrade filmware without success, and I have entered Engineer Menu to see if there are options but I am not advanced enought.
Can you please give me the solution? I have bought a battery allready but I really would like to lock the 2G only when travelling... Receiving calls and emails during travelling is too important for me so I hope someone can help me hoping this can be done with engineering menu. I want to return to orginal factory settings only, nothing special and I have an unlocked phone so I am not breaking any law because this phone is mine.

Thanks your support

Default Engineer screen

I can't seem to get my storm2 to the engineer screen. I have tried over and over again! I get to the help me screen, and generated codes with many different websites, and nothing! My screen stays the exact same. What am I doing wrong?
