TMO wouldn't give me the code until after my 30 day buyer's remorse period.

So I got the code from Horizon Wireless instead. Just wasn't worth the hassle.

I just unlocked mine from this seller:

BlackBerry 9000 Bold 9700 Bold2 Rogers Unlock Code on eBay.ca (item 260526050017 end time 29-Dec-09 14:05:24 EST)

Seller unlocks AT&T and Rogers for 2,50$. I unlocked mine, worked flawless with instructions. its not a scam since mine is unlocked.

Same and surprisingly enough they did it for all 3 of my BlackBerrys although only 1 of them is active/currently associated with my account.

I purchased a BlackBerry 9000 when it first came out last year, but the trackball stopped working after a few months. Replaced that with another 9000 and upgraded about a month ago to a 9700. Only the 9700 is currently active but AT&T gave me the unlock codes for all 3. All I had to do was call in and provide them with the IMEI of each inactive phone. Read out the directions and gave the code for each right over the phone.

Hi, i just got a 9700 from ebay and it says that it's "factory unlocked" and in the description it says that 3G can only be used with T-Mobile and EDGE with all other networks.

Does this phone still need to be unlocked?

eBay.com.my: BRAND NEW BlackBerry Bold 9700 UNLOCKED NEW IN BOX (item 120494654188 end time Jan 17, 2010 10:01:22 MYT)

if so, i'll get the code from you once i receive the phone!

Thanks!

@ThePoisonBerry

Not all networks allow you to unlock from their network directly through them. A lot of the time they are also actually more expensive than a lot of the guys who represent their businesses in the forums here.

There's also a level of support and turnaround time that a lot of the networks aren't able to compete with companies like our on. They certainly aren't investing time and money into having unlock teams for customers looking to leave their network!

Why are we digging up these old threads? I'm pretty sure the OP has found a solution already.
