..If you don't have an upgrade coming in the near future? I'm in that boat, I don't have an upgrade until 2010...depressing to even type. Lol I'm surely not paying retail...my curve can do the job. Just wondering if any one of you addicts will spend the cash to have the Niagara???
What is the typical retail cost? I don't qualify for new every 2 until October 2009, but I currently qualify for early upgrade. The Storm is $199 with that pricing, and I would happily pay that for the Niagra.
Be buying up front most likely. Telus may give me some money off because of all of my recent problems. Plus I'll sell off my Curve for some money towards it (who needs backup phones).
I'm going to try to get an early upgrade but most likely I'm going to have to pay full retail. If its under $550, I'll do it but anymore than that I doubt I'll pay full.
I have two lines eligible for annual upgrades but if I had to I would pay full retail (minus a discount from my employer), unless I heard about some serious issues with it at launch but both the Bold and Curve 8900 were very solid overall (with some issues of course) at their respective US launches. It's doubtful Niagara will be any less.
I should have an 1-year upgrade in May; if not, I have a Touch Diamond and a Storm to sell to offset the cost of paying full retail. Or, I'll just start a new line and cancel it. The new-contract price plus the $175 ETF would still most likely come out less than full retail. (And yes, it is legal and honest).

still debating. my NE2 is january 2010. paid full retail for the storm so i may make myself wait until my upgrade date.
Mercc79, i thought if you canceled your new line, you have to pay the full retail of the phone or return it...no?

If you don't return the phone, you are just charged the ETF on top of what you already paid for the phone. I did that when I got the Omnia and only paid $325 for it in the end, as opposed to the $559 full retail price.

So if you buy the phone on a new line, the terminate the new line early, pay the ETF and all is the ESN "clear" to be swapped to an existing line? How does the 30 period factor into this?
Just wondering as I was planning on picking up the 9630 to replace my fairly recent Curve. I just don't want to pay 1st gen iPhone prices for a new toy.
