Don't know who will wait in line for. I don't think people are going to have to wait in line. This is not a hyped up device like the Storm was. And avg consumers that do not come here probably are oblivious to the Tour and any other device that's not media hyped.

I agree although all the dang talk about waiting in lines is getting my second guessing. Even though I know it will be a waist, I will probably show up an hour early.

I waited in line for the Storm. (First time in my life I got there a bit early to buy something, what a mistake!). Tour is not being touted like Storm was, but if it's a similar launch day, what I learned from chasing down a Storm launch day was:

-VZW Corporate Store was only giving Storms in stock to new customers.
-Existing customers upgrading had to order and have one shipped.
-Other authorized VZW dealers (those little stores that are non-Corporate) did not get the Storm on launch day. I was on a local store's waiting list (just in case), dropped in when they opened at 9.a.m., none in stock, no deliveries coming that day. (Later they called me when Storms came in, it was about the 5th day after launch.)
-So I left little local dealer and headed to C. City. Arrived 9:15 a.m. Store opened 10:00 a.m. Bitter cold day, only a few cars in lot. Went to door at 9:40 a.m., so I was first. Others waiting in their car followed. There were a total of 6 of us at door at opening, but some were shopping for Christmas bargains. Only myself, another woman and a man were there for the Storm. The man pushed past me to get to kiosk first, but VZW rep had seen me at door ahead of him, so waited on me first. I got Storm #1 in stock, man got Storm #2 in stock, 3rd woman in line got nothing. All they had were two. So she had to order hers from VZW through C. City.

So those waiting in line launch day of Tour may or may not find similar circumstances of minimal stock on hand. But at least it won't be -10 degrees out!

I'll be in line. About 1-2 hours brfore store opens. I can't pre-order. System won't let me.

If by waiting in line you mean making a phone call on the 12th, then yeah, ill be waiting.

It pays to dig around...the lovely upgraded price has been granted but as I was cleaning around my desk area, low and behold a lovely
$15 reward certificate from Best buy. Best Buy Mobile here I come-even if they don't have it on the 12th. Worth waiting for a $135 Tour. If you happen to hear about BBY stock let me know!

10 degrees out....my old Michigan days. It definately won't be 10, but it may be the opposite here in TX. It has been extremely hot here and starts getting that way very early.

I was thinkin about it but decided to pre-order and have it shipped to my office. Can't get any easier than that. Plus the rebate was instant, they waived the $25 early upgrade surcharge, and gave me a $75 dollar early upgrade coupon I did not know I even had. The local store did not know about it. Apparently it was mailed last Monday and I have not gotten it yet. For $125 plus tax I am happy. My new every 2 is not up till Sept.

I just think those of you who think no one knows about the phone may be wrong. Obv a LOT of people know about it, otherwise VZW wouldn't have been utterly bombarded with angry pre existing customers wanting the ability to pre order. I'm new to crackberry.com, and I knew about the Tour before I was a member here.

Also, the CS rep I spoke to stated that since the Storm sold out so quickly AND there was such limited stock, that's why the're doing pre orders for the Tour. I deduce that stores won't have much stock....so unless you're at the front of the line....you may be SOL. But I do live in an extremely (over) populated area. We have crowding of the rats here and I'm scared of someone beating me in the head with their Storm to take my place in line!!

yeah. my mind' been changed. Since VZW is doing the instant rebate and they have NE2, i'll be pre-ordering online. So much for launch day. Oh well. :-)
