    GPS.
    ))) symbol means it's ON.
    cross hair without ))) means GPS is OFF.

    To further clarify, ON means that any application on you phone that has the proper permission can access your phone's location.

    OFF means that only a 911 call center equipped with the proper equipment can access your phone's location.

    Options -> Advanced Options -> GPS -> Set GPS Services to E911 only
